The Stone Lantern, established in 1960, is an oasis on Main Street in Highlands North Carolina. For 50 years we have been devoted to offering the finest in Asian art, fine jewelry and stone lanterns while also being a major supplier of ikebana and bonsai supplies in-store and online.

The Stone Lantern is quite a large “little” shop. Five display rooms offer a wide variety of both contemporary and antique oriental accessories: porcelains, obis, netsuke, precious and semi-precious jewelry, probably the largest offering of ikebana containers and supplies in the country and an extensive line of carved rosewood vase bases. As our name implies we carry a wide range of stone lanterns and stone basins as well.

The Stone Lantern has been devoted to offering a full complement of supplies for the Ikebana and Bonsai enthusiast for 50 years. We offer ikebana containers made in both China and Japan, along with kenzan in any shape or size. We also stock a large selection of ikebana and bonsai scissors and supplies needed by the beginner as well as the advanced student.

Our selection of rosewood and teak lacquered bases is the largest in the United States. With over 5,000 rosewood stands in stock we are sure to have one to enhance any piece, large or small. We also carry an expanding selection of books about bonsai, ikebana and Japanese gardening.
